What this site does with your data.
Chengdu City Guide is a static website. It has no accounts, no cookies, no analytics and no contact form. This page explains the small amount of data that still passes through a normal web request.
Who is responsible
Chengdu City Guide is a personal travel website founded by Hardy and Lukas, who live and work in Chengdu. It is not an official tourism website. Questions about this page can be sent through the contact page.
What the site itself stores
- No accounts. There is no login, registration, profile, favourites list or newsletter.
- No cookies. The site does not set first-party cookies and does not use a cookie banner because there is nothing to consent to.
- No analytics. There is no Google Analytics, Plausible, Matomo or other tracking script.
- No advertising. There are no ad networks, tracking pixels or affiliate cookies.
- No local storage. The site does not write to localStorage or sessionStorage.
- No contact form. Messages are not submitted through this site. See the contact page for the current route.
Hosting and server logs
Like any website, this one is served by a hosting provider. The provider may record standard server logs when you request a page: your IP address, the date and time, the URL requested, the referring page, your browser’s user-agent string and the response status. These logs are used for security, troubleshooting and aggregate traffic volume.
The site does not combine these logs with other information to identify individual visitors, and does not use them for advertising. The hosting provider’s own privacy policy and retention period apply. The site owner should confirm the provider’s log retention and configure it to keep logs no longer than necessary.
Google Fonts
The site loads two typefaces, DM Sans and Manrope, from Google Fonts. When a page loads, your browser requests files from fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com. As part of that request, Google receives your IP address, browser information, the page that referred the request and the time of the request. Google’s own privacy policy applies to that processing.
If Google Fonts is unavailable or blocked, the page still works: it falls back to system fonts. The text and navigation do not depend on the fonts loading.
JavaScript
The site uses one small JavaScript file to close the mobile menu when you press Escape, click outside it or follow a link. It does not collect, store or transmit any information. With JavaScript disabled, the menu still opens and closes through the browser’s built-in disclosure control, and every page remains readable.
The map
The maps on the homepage and first-visit guide are locally stored images. It does not load map tiles from a third-party server, does not request your location and has no tracking code. The geography is based on public OpenStreetMap data, credited in the footer and on the credits page.
Images
Photographs are served from this site’s own assets. They do not contain tracking pixels or third-party requests.
External links
Guides link to official venues, transport operators and government sites. The contact pages also link to Telegram; using a third-party messaging service is subject to that service’s privacy policy. Following an external link takes you to a site with its own privacy policy, which may collect more data than this one. Links open in a new tab and are marked for screen readers.
Email and corrections
If you send an email to the published contact address, the guide receives your email address and the content of your message. That information is used to respond and, where relevant, to check a correction. It is not added to a mailing list, sold or shared for marketing.
Correction messages are kept only as long as needed to resolve the issue. Do not send passport numbers, payment details, medical records or other sensitive information.
Children
The site is written for adult travellers and is not directed at children. It does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children, because it has no accounts or forms.
Your choices
- Block or delete cookies. The site sets none, but your browser’s existing settings still apply to other sites you visit.
- Disable JavaScript. All content and navigation remain usable.
- Block Google Fonts. The site falls back to system fonts.
- Ask about an email you sent. Use the contact page to request access to, correction of or deletion of your message.
Changes to this page
